John Molson Sports Marketing Committee Set to Kickoff 20th Annual John Molson Sports Business Confer
For sports-crazed business students across North America, there are a few things that even the best of management programs cannot always offer: the chance to learn from the best in sport, and, perhaps more importantly, the chance to network with the best sport has to offer.
In just over a month, those students will get the chance to do both. Aspiring sports business students from around the continent will be convening in Montreal for the 20th annual John Molson Sports Business Conference, which is slated to run from November 5-7 in the city’s downtown core.
From humble beginnings in 1995, the John Molson Sports Business Conference has blossomed into Canada’s largest student-run sports business conference. Organized each year by the John Molson Sports Marketing committee (JMSM), the conference will feature two dozen of the sports industry’s most impactful and distinguished executives. In the past, names like Marc Bergevin, Don Meehan, Dan Quinn and many others have graced to JMSM stage with their breadth of knowledge, accumulated from years of experience in the field and spanning all five major pro sports in North America.
“We couldn’t be more excited for this year’s conference, which celebrates its 20th anniversary,” said JMSM co-president Mikael Clement, “We are so grateful for the hard work and dedication of alumni who have helped build the conference into what it is today.
“Not only will you get to learn from and network with the best in the business, but you will also be able interact and share the weekend’s festivities with 300 delegates who last year represented over 20 universities from across North America.”
Over the past two decades, the John Molson Sports Business Conference has “given students the chance to broaden their sports business knowledge, interact with sports business professionals, network with fellow delegates, and, in between, take in everything this city has to offer”.
This year, JMSM has puled out all the stops to provide attendees with a once-in-a-lifetime experience. The club has secured big names like Montreal Canadiens owner, president and CEO Geoff Molson, Detroit Red Wings general manager Ken Holland, and former Los Angeles Dodgers general manager Ned Colletti (a John Molson Sports Business Conference returnee), among others. Bill Clement, the famed NHL broadcaster and critically acclaimed author, will be the keynote speaker for the 20th anniversary of the event.
“This is certainly our best speaker lineup to date,” said Clement, “We believe that our array of top industry executives will be able to add a great amount of value through their experience and knowledge.”
The 2015 edition of the John Molson Sports Business Conference is also unique in that it will feature a prominent Major League Soccer presence for the first time, headlined by New York Red Bulls general manager Marc De Grandpre and Vancouver Whitecaps president Bob Lenarduzzi.
The University of Ottawa Sports Business Club is excited to announce that it will be attending the 20th John Molson Sports Business Conference, as it will provide an unparalleled learning and networking experience for the graduating class of 2015 as they approach graduation in a few short months.
